The resort has many things to offer for the holiday maker, from toddlers to grandparents alike and has attracted tourists for over a hundred years. The seafront is packed with exciting attractions, the busy town centre is a must for the keen shopper and the numerous restaurants, bars and clubs make going out in Skegness a memorable experience.
Golden Sandy Beach
The golden sandy beach in Skegness is the ideal place to spend a fun family holiday or perfect for a pleasant stroll. The south area of Skegness, the location of the Ivydene Hotel, is also home to the Skegness Model Village, Nine Hole Pitch and Putt, Crazy Golf and a seal sanctuary and an aquarium. So there is no shortage of things to do, right on our doorstep.
Seafront Attractions
The seafront attractions in Skegness are varied and numerous. The boating lakes in the south of the resort, just a short walk from the Ivydene Hotel, offer paddle boats or rowings boats for hire and even have a pretty conservation area which is home to the famous Skegness Canada Geese.
The south area of Skegness, adjacent to the Ivydene Hotel, is also home to the fairy dell paddling pool, which is the perfect seaside safe haven for the little ones to enjoy a summers day splashing around.

Just around the corner from the Ivydene Hotel, on the seafront, you will find the very well kept south bowling greens, including the only crowned bowling green in Lincolnshire. The greens are perfectly located for the guests of the Ivydene Hotel, whether you’re taking part in one of the many national bowling competions which Skegness is proud to host, or just out enjoying a gentle game of friendly bowls on a sunny afternoon.
Skegness is known affectionately by the regular holiday makers as Skeg Vegas; not surprisingly as Skegness is abundant with arcades, prize bingo and indoor fun for everyone. Outdoors there is often something going on in the picturesque Tower Gardens.

Further in town you can find the Village Church Farm Museum, featuring an original 1760’s farmhouse, cowsheds, threshing barn and workshops. Skegness seafront has a fun go-carting track, a pleasure beach with many exciting rides, the famous Skegness pier with numerous attractions within and Natureland Seal Sanctuary, with everything from crocodiles to meerkats and not surpisingly a seal or two. A short drive from the Ivydene Hotel or bus journey along the seafront will get you to many exciting attractions and places of interest within the Skegness area. To the south of Skegness is the famous Seacroft Golf Course and the secluded nature reserve at Gibraltar Point; a tranquill bird and wildlife sanctuary, with many interesting species, a popular visitor centre and attractive rustic restaurant.

The journey will take you past the North Shore Golf Course and the village of Winthorpe to the famous Butlins Holiday Resort, where Ivydene Hotel guests can spend the day having great fun with a Butlins day pass. A little further North is the amazing Fantasy Island theme park at Ingoldmells with both indoor and outdoor attractions for both adults and children, extreme rides, showbars and excellent seven day outdoor market.

If your idea of a sporting day out should be taken at a more leisurely pace then the Ivydene Hotel is in a great location for the keen angler. Skegness and the surrounding area is a marvellous place for a great relaxing day out fishing. Just a short jouney inland to the pretty village of Burgh Le Marsh will bring you to the Sycamore Lakes where you can fish until your heart is content in the picturesque surroundings of the fishing park.
Parrot Zoo At Friskney
A visit to Skegness would not be complete without a trip to the Parrot Zoo at Friskney. Formerly known as the National Parrot Sanctuary, the zoo is home to over a hundred different species of parrots and other exotic birds, most of which are pet parrots that have been rescued. As a result, these birds are familiar with humans and are really very friendly. You can purchase a bag of peanuts from the kiosk to feed the birds. Some will even engage you in conversation. You are even allowed to enter one of the enclosures and engage with the birds face to face, a great experience for the whole family. The zoo is not only home for parrots, but is also home for a few other residents. The kids will love the cute meerkats, ring tail lemurs and giant tortoises.
